ABOUT ME
Born in New York City and raised in Bedford, NY where I was a competitive equestrian, I graduated from the University of Vermont in 1989 with a small business management degree. In my senior year I opened a Bagel store with three other students and over the next 12 years helped grow the company to 10 stores in 4 states with over $4m in revenue. Seeking a life change, I took a sabbatical in 2000 and traveled to India where I studied Yoga. Upon my return I focused on my Yoga training and received the 200 hour Yoga Alliance certification with an emphasis on the Iyengar style.
In 2002, after 35 years in the Northeast, I decided to move to New Orleans to immerse myself in the music, culture and food of this great city. I was very fortunate to start teaching Yoga at the New Orleans Athletic Club where I found a welcoming community both personally and professionally and still work there today.
As my Yoga teaching progressed, I became interested in how core stabilization improved my practice. Looking to deepen my knowledge of core strength I turned to Pilates. The principle of lengthening the torso away from the pelvis while engaging and strengthening the deep abdominals gave me much relief from chronic low back issues. I credit Pilates for keeping me healthy for tennis, walking, cycling, hiking and skiing/snowboarding!
In 2005, I certified with the Physical Mind Institute and am currently certified through the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCT). I enjoy continuing my Pilates education with Polestar Pilates, Pilates Anytime, and Pilates Method Alliance workshops & conferences..
Through Pilates, I enjoy working with clients on a one to one basis and in mat classes. I specialize in:
